The moment you land abroad, your data often stops working. Roaming is expensive, airport WiFi is slow, and a local SIM takes time to sort out. That is exactly the moment you want your audio tour to simply work.
Download before you fly
The rule is simple. Download the place while you are still on WiFi, at home or in the hotel. With TourTour the audio, the text, and the images all go onto your phone, so the tour is ready before you even reach the street.

What works offline, and what needs a connection
Once a place is downloaded, the narration and the stops play with no signal at all. The one part that wants a connection is the live turn by turn map between stops, because the map itself runs on Apple Maps. The fix is to save that area in Apple Maps too, which you can do in a minute.
How to save the map offline
On iOS 17 or later, open Apple Maps, tap your profile picture next to the search field, choose Offline Maps, tap the plus button, enter your destination, drag the box to cover the area you want, and tap Download. Now both the stories and the map work with no data.
Why it is worth the two minutes
No signal, no data, no surprise roaming bill, and no scramble for WiFi when you land. You step off the plane and the city is already talking to you. For the full walk, see our guide to doing a self guided walking tour.
